Good to know for Aurora homes
Northeast Old Aurora
The Northeast Old Aurora heritage conservation district was designated in 2006 and covers 165 properties, mostly residential, from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Heritage permits on street-facing windows
The Town's guide says replacing windows or doors on street-visible elevations of designated properties needs a Heritage Permit, and a heritage permit does not replace a building permit.
Same opening, no permit
The Town's permit page lists window or door replacement as exempt, as long as the opening is not enlarged or altered. Work must still comply with the Zoning By-law.
Questions Aurora homeowners ask
The Town of Aurora lists window or door replacement as work that does not need a building permit, provided the opening is not enlarged or altered. Exempt work must still comply with the Zoning By-law, so confirm with the Town.
For properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, replacing windows or doors on street-visible elevations needs a Heritage Permit, and that does not replace a building permit. Ask the Town whether your home is designated or in the district.
Yes. Aurora is one of the places where we arrange installation. We deliver across Canada, and in the GTA and neighbouring cities one team can look after supply and fitting together.
Yes. Our showroom is in Pickering, on Orangebrook Court, and shows aluminium windows and doors by appointment. Book a time online or through the chat, and bring photos or measurements of your home.
The colours available vary from brand to brand. The popular ones can be picked in our online configurator, and on request we can offer any RAL colour. You can browse the full range on our RAL colours page.
Use our free measurement guide, which takes you through each opening step by step. If you already have an opening size, the rough opening converter turns it into the frame size to order.
Still wondering about something? Ask the chat assistant on this page, or contact us. Want to read more first? Our guide to vinyl, PVC and uPVC windows and the RAL colours page are a good start.
