Good to know for Etobicoke homes

Postwar homes and a growing suburb

Etobicoke grew quickly after the Second World War, and the City of Toronto archives record its population rising from under 40,000 to over 200,000 in two decades. If your home is from that era, check each opening carefully before you order.

Heritage areas: Baby Point and Weston

The City of Toronto lists Teiaiagon-Baby Point and Weston Phase 1 as adopted heritage conservation districts. In a district, exterior changes need a heritage permit, so check your street before you choose windows.

Condo towers at Humber Bay Shores

Waterfront Etobicoke has many condo towers. In Toronto, replacing windows or doors in a building other than a single dwelling house needs a building permit, so start with your condo board and the City.

Questions Etobicoke homeowners ask

The City of Toronto says a permit is not needed to replace a window or door in the same opening of a house with one dwelling unit, if the size and structure do not change. New or enlarged openings need one. Check with the City first.

Yes. We deliver across Canada and arrange installation in Etobicoke and the rest of the GTA and neighbouring cities, so one team looks after the job. Outside that area we supply the windows and doors and you use your own installer.

Parts of Etobicoke, including Baby Point and Weston, are heritage conservation districts, where exterior changes need a heritage permit. Look up your address with the City of Toronto before you order, since a permit rule can shape which windows are allowed.

Yes. Our showroom on Orangebrook Court in Pickering displays aluminium windows and doors, by appointment. You can book a time online or through the chat on any page, and bring your questions.

The colours available vary from brand to brand. The popular ones can be picked in our online configurator, and on request we can offer any RAL colour. You can browse the full range on our RAL colours page.

Use our free measurement guide, which takes you through each opening step by step. If you already have an opening size, the rough opening converter turns it into the frame size to order.

Still wondering about something? Ask the chat assistant on this page, or contact us. Want to read more first? Our guide to vinyl, PVC and uPVC windows and the RAL colours page are a good start.
