Good to know for Scarborough homes

Guildwood Village

The City of Toronto describes Guildwood Village as a planned residential community redeveloped after 1953. Homes like these often have openings that are a little different from modern standards, so measure each one carefully before ordering.

Check heritage status

The City of Toronto lists adopted heritage conservation districts on its website. If your house is designated, exterior changes may need a heritage permit, so look up your address before you choose.

Questions Scarborough homeowners ask

The City of Toronto says a house with one dwelling unit does not need a permit to replace a window or door in the same opening, if size and structure stay the same. A new or larger opening does. Zoning rules still apply, so confirm with the City before you order.

Yes. Scarborough is one of the places where we arrange installation. We deliver across Canada, and in the GTA and neighbouring cities one team can look after supply and fitting together.

Yes. Our showroom on Orangebrook Court in Pickering displays aluminium windows and doors, by appointment. You can book a time online or through the chat on any page, and bring your questions.

Yes. You can order a single door or window and the same checks apply: measure the opening, keep the size the same if you want to avoid a permit, and ask the City if you plan to change the opening.

The colours available vary from brand to brand. The popular ones can be picked in our online configurator, and on request we can offer any RAL colour. You can browse the full range on our RAL colours page.

Use our free measurement guide, which takes you through each opening step by step. If you already have an opening size, the rough opening converter turns it into the frame size to order.

Still wondering about something? Ask the chat assistant on this page, or contact us. Want to read more first? Our guide to vinyl, PVC and uPVC windows and the RAL colours page are a good start.
