Good to know for Whitby homes
Brooklin and Werden's Plan
Whitby's two heritage conservation districts are Brooklin, with 169 properties, and the Werden's Plan neighbourhood in Downtown Whitby, with 250. A heritage permit applies to changes in either.
Newer homes to the north
Since the mid 1990s, new subdivisions have mostly moved north, including into Brooklin. Older housing is more common in the south, so openings and window ages differ across town.
Permits and heritage
The Town's permit page lists adding windows or doors as work needing a permit, and its heritage page says changes to designated properties need a heritage permit. Contact the Town to confirm your project.
Questions Whitby homeowners ask
The Town of Whitby lists adding windows or doors as work that needs a permit. It does not state a rule for a like for like swap, so ask the Town before you order if you are keeping the opening the same.
A heritage permit is needed to change properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, including those in the Brooklin and Werden's Plan districts. Email the Town's heritage contact to confirm your project before ordering.
Yes. We deliver across Canada and arrange installation in Whitby and the rest of the GTA and neighbouring cities, so one team looks after the job. Outside that area we supply the windows and doors and you use your own installer.
Yes. Our showroom is in Pickering, on Orangebrook Court, and shows aluminium windows and doors by appointment. Book a time online or through the chat, and bring photos or measurements of your home.
The colours available vary from brand to brand. The popular ones can be picked in our online configurator, and on request we can offer any RAL colour. You can browse the full range on our RAL colours page.
Use our free measurement guide, which takes you through each opening step by step. If you already have an opening size, the rough opening converter turns it into the frame size to order.
Still wondering about something? Ask the chat assistant on this page, or contact us. Want to read more first? Our guide to vinyl, PVC and uPVC windows and the RAL colours page are a good start.
